Lake Harriet Basement Remodel
This basement renovation project across from Lake Harriet in Minneapolis transformed an underutilized lower level into an entertaining space with a custom wet bar.
The design centers around an arched niche that frames the bar area. Handmade zellige tiles back the curved opening, their irregular surface reflecting light within the neutral palette. Open floating shelves within the arch display glassware and spirits.
The marble countertop features warm veining that contrasts with the dark, flat-panel cabinetry. Modern sconce lighting flanks the arch for balanced illumination. Both the beverage refrigerator and dishwasher are concealed behind cabinet panels for a streamlined appearance. The bar includes a small prep sink positioned off-center within the counter, with a single-handle faucet proportioned for the space.
The project shows how architectural elements like the curved opening and textural tiles can transform a basement into a more refined entertaining area.
